I brought this movie at Planet M without much expectations, because of it's ill-fate at the box office. And it got added to the list of movies which were not fared well at box office but surprised me. Full paisa vasool.
The man Karthik, is an underdog. Though he was excellent in his studies, the company was not considering him good or even credited his hard work. One day he got insulted by the boss in front of all his colleagues including the girl he admired ( who never knew he was existed even after four years working together ! ). He felt it the end and decided to end his life.
Then the twist comes. He started getting calls from himself ! Interestingly the Kathik on phone is a more matured, smart guy with an attitude. He guides the 'normal' Karthik to win his dreams and make a complete make over for the guy. He wins his boss and the girl of his dreams. But when the girl finds about the ' caller ' Karthik and how she with the help of his psychiatrist tries to dig out the secrets forms the rest of the story.
We have seen many movies dealing with schizophrenia, split-personality, dual personality, hallucination etc. What I liked about this movie is the way the underdog Karthik transformed to the winner. He just followed the advice from the caller Karthik. And we know that it is himself. Then what does it mean...
There is a very powerful sub-conscious mind in every one of us. We usually ignores its voice or pretend like we are far smarter than it. Or at times, we will be forced to ignore it owes to our fears. We are very afraid that if we dare to stand on our feet and voice against the establishments like boss, colleague, system, it will ruin us, it will make our life difficult. In fact, once we overcome our inhibitions, and let our mind lead us, we can also be winner. The prize of overcoming the inhibitions will always be very sweet.
Look at the way Karthik handles his boss and landlord as per his adviser's directions... The over charging landlord became friendly and returned the extra money he charged Karthik. The boss who was always bullying and never give Karthik the credit he deserves or appreciate his hard and perfect work, realises his worth once he was fired and showed what he is capable of. Most of the time, when everything runs smooth people ignore to notice the hands making it perfect. Only when something went wrong the boss will look down to see what went wrong. Why should one wait for it. Why shouldn't we make the boss notice what we are doing and what is our worth... Never ever let your hard work go unnoticed to the inhibitions.
The imaginary world Karthik made was what making the real Karthik. He was guilty about something he never did. Every moment he was burning with it. And that prevents himself from becoming the real him. Once it was shown and he makes the effort to grow out of it, everything changes for good. That is important. When you know that what you are imagining is not the right thing and it is becoming a burden and ruining yourself we need to make that conscious effort to set things right. The things we imagine within our mind can be destroying as much it can be productive too.
The boy-girl chemistry is good. The girl, who when came to know that the boy has some psychological issues, stood by him and helped him make everything right. That is the kind of support we expect from our friends and spouse, right... In the beginning she was shown as a carefree girl, who enjoys cigarettes and parties. I don't understand why the girl has to light a cigarette to prove that she is cool ! Directors, please grow up.
Altogether, a good movie. It will not bore you and will give you some insight about your own mind too. Just take a look at yourself and listen to the inner voice who wants to do the things you always wanted to do. Shed the inhibitions and march towards the dream life... Forget the negativism shown in the movie. Never let your mind destroy you, but make it your guiding light.. to success..
The music is also good. Blends good with the movie. You can get the translated lyrics of Jaane Yeh Kya Hua and Kaisi Hein Yeh Udasi by clicking on it.
