Dabangg - As I See It

That was it ! The hype before release and the news of breaking records from the day of its release - Dabangg got the curiosity of me ignited. And I must confess it didn't disappoint me either ! It lived upto the expectation and I was happy coming out of the theater. And surprisingly the 'mass film' satisfied the viewers in multiplex too. I mean when there was a scene in which Salman shows any heroism or gives out a punch dialogue, there was enough wah wah's and aaahhh..'s. ( The same story with Ice Age 3 too. I thought we will be the odd adults for the kid's movie, but majority of the audience were adults and they enjoyed the movie thoroughly and was letting the kid inside them show).

So what it got to beat the collection or entertainment value that 3 Idiots had ??? Only one answer - Salman. He looked Dabangg ( fearless ), stylish, lovable and surprisingly young. And to top it, his acting, body language and dialogue delivery looked matured. Whether it is the introducing fight scene or the lady crooning scene, his monkey mocking antics were out and the less spoken, precise police officer was there to see. A treat for Salman fans and for others a good entertainment.

The movie is about the fearless hero taking on the bad elements in the society his way all of his own, at the cost of his mom, fighting all odds with the step-father, step-brother to become successful and winning the lady he chose. The difference is in the presentation. The way Salman is presented and his antics. The signature Ray-Ban trick is fresh and lovable.

One more signature Salman moment is there in the movie - going shirtless !!! Though most of the time we see him either in uniform or dashing plain shirt and trousers ( even in songs ), in the climax fight to take on the villain he does go shirtless. But no whirling shirt or tricks with body. He needed to go shirtless because the villain does it and he has to prove that he got better physique than the villain !!!

Give it a cinematic liberty and you will like the Dabangg way of proposing and wedding! The police station scene where Salman offers a grand for making the lady smile is cute at least. Good to see Salman downplaying and he excels in this role.

One weak link may be the heroine. Sonakshi…. Hhmmm… I will say ok, both the look and acting ( all she got to show is some nakara and uninterested to Salman though ). Unlike Sonam Kapoor or Shruthi Hassan or other recent debutants, she got a dream-like debut with the movie. Let us see how her career shapes up.

The music department is another highlight of the movie. Salman's favorites Sajid-Wajid came up with some good songs. Mast Mast Nain, Munni Badnaam and Chori Kiya Re Jiya you will like to hum. The background music is different from normal mass action flicks. The music is always in background and is not shouting ! It never goes wild.

Paisa vasool movie. Do not miss it ( I am sure most of you would already have seen it ! ). Now all we have to do is to wait for the sequel ! Yes, discussion is going on.
